Cork Contemporary Projects
C.C.P was established by Liam Slevin (Sculptor/Sound Artist), Edel O Reilly (Print Maker/Photographer), Tadhg Slevin (Carpenter/Sculptor), Paul Harrington (Video/Installation Artist)and DianeHarrington (Architect/Set Designer). Most of the collective finished their degree's between 2007 and 2008 and began working collaborativly soon after, combing their disparate skill to assist one another with different large scale projects such as 24hournonstopart, a touring exhibition by Tigh Fili. Through working with each other through a informal context, it became apparent that there was a strong diversity of disciplines within the group that allowed them to consider the potential for more ambitious projects when working collaboratively.
The first of these projects was Moniker, an art and electronic music night at the Infirmary Bar which showcases a range of local DJs and VJs every month. The following event was The Eviction Show at 129 Sundays Well which was an artistic intervention with a residential space. The exhibition featured work by the five members of CCP and received a large crowd of supporters on the opening night, who shared the opinion the need for a new artist led space in city, particularly for emerging artists.
The main focus of CCP has always been to promote inter-disciplinary links between artists and peer organisations. Eva White(Sculptor), Fiona Kelly (Print maker/Sculptor) and Amanda Rice (Painter/Installation Artist) are artist who have been actively involved with collective on a number of projects and with the opening of CCP's gallery The Space, joined its membership.
